Common Sense – what’s that?

Tuesday I may have lost whatever common sense I could ever lay claim to.  After 36 1/2 years, I shaved my mustache.  Where the common sense comes in is I picked the coldest day of the year to that point to do the deed – and the next day was colder (wind chill, anyway).  Damn, it was cold – I guess that is what they make scarves for….  Now I’m dealing with razor burn, dried skin, dry house….

Why did I do it?  Well it has sorta been on my mind for a long, long time.  Whenever I would think of acting on the idea, I’d back off.  One memory that came to me and maybe helped me across the tipping point was our friend Brenda Kuralt saying how much she wanted Wallace to shave his beard.  She kept saying that their kids had never seen him without one….

No one has noticed it without my pointing to my lip with a crazy enough look to draw their attention.  My better half, Ellen, is very happy, and she and our sister-in-law Susan claim they think it makes me look younger….  Not sure if I buy that….  Someday soon, I’ll have to figure out how to post a picture up here so you can judge…

I got a haircut a few weeks ago, had a similar experience with the cold.
Though for me it was more like a low forty. Brrrr, poor me.
